Viyyur police’s swift action saves woman’s life

The Viyyur Police averted a tragedy on Friday morning after a young woman from Peringavu made a frantic call to the station, pleading for help as her mother had locked herself in a room and was feared to be attempting suicide.

Assistant sub-inspector Sajeevan received the distressed call while the team was preparing for the morning parade. He immediately alerted inspector K.P. Mithun. On the inspector’s instructions, sub-inspector Jinu Kumar and senior civil police officer Nishi rushed to the location with the station vehicle.

Within minutes, the officers reached the home, where the elderly parents led them to the locked room. The daughter was frantically knocking on the door begging her mother to open it.

The officers quickly broke open the door and rushed in. She was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital.

Doctors placed her in the ICU, and after about three hours confirmed that she was out of danger. They said she survived solely because of the police’s swift response.
