The launch of the Malayalam movie Thudakkam, which marks the acting debut of senior actor Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya Mohanlal, was held in Kochi, Kerala, on Thursday (October 30, 2025).
Mr. Mohanlal, his wife Suchitra, son Pranav Mohanlal, and producer Antony Perumbavoor were among those present at the puja ceremony of the movie directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, whose previous film 2018 was a box-office hit. Produced under Mr. Antony’s banner Aashirvad Cinemas, Thudakkam has his son Ashish Antony playing a key role.
Mr. Mohanlal said he had “never imagined” that his daughter and son would enter the tinsel town. “As everything in my life continues to remain a ‘vismayam’ (wonder), I had named my daughter Vismaya. The audience helped me become an actor and has continued to support me for the past 48 years. Like me, my children were also destined to reach the world of cinema,” he said.
Mr. Jude Anthany said he is “a great fan” of Mr. Mohanlal, adding that he is happy to direct the acting debut of Vismaya.
“Thudakkam is a small family movie,” he said.
