Vidya Wires to raise fresh funds of ₹320 crore for capex, growth

Vidya Wires Ltd which is into manufacturing of winding and conductivity products is planning to raise fresh capital of around Rs. 320 crore to fund capex plans and future growth opportunities.  

The 44-year-old company from Anand, Gujarat, has plans to utilise ₹140 crore to partly finance capital expenditure (capex) requirements for setting up new project under its wholly owned subsidiary ALCU Industries Pvt. Ltd.

The company has an installed capacity of 19,680 MTPA and it is in the process of setting up a new manufacturing unit in the Nadiad Taluka of Gujarat.

The proposed facility will have installed capacity of 18,000 MTPA and post this the company’s installed capacity would increase to 37,680 MTPA.

Shyamsundar Rathi, Chairman, Vidya Wires Ltd. said, “The company is positioning itself for the next phase of growth through capacity expansion, product diversification, export growth, and sustainability.”

The company said the establishment of ALCU is aligned with the global shift towards sustainability. 

The products to be manufactured from the new facility will find use in various industries including Solar, Windmills, Electric Vehicle, Switch Gears, Power Transformer, Water Pumps and Fans and other home appliances, said Shailesh Rathi, MD, Vidya Wires.

The company plans to utilise ₹100 crore to repay/prepay, in full or part, all or certain outstanding borrowings availed by the it; and the rest for general corporate purposes. 

The new facility would make the company India’s third-largest manufacturer in the segment, with an expected market share of 11.3%.

The company is widening its product portfolio to include high-growth offerings like copper foils, solar cables, PV round ribbons, and enamelled aluminum wires which will cater to electric mobility, renewable energy, and AI data centers. 

Backward integration for producing oxygen-free copper rods will ensure better quality control and reduced input dependency.
