Veterans take exception to Mohanlal’s appearance while receiving Army Chief’s commendation card

A day after actor Mohanlal received the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and posted a picture of the same on social media, veterans took exception to his appearance on the occasion.  

Former Navy Chief Admiral (retd) Arun Prakash expressed his displeasure on X by stating that distinguished civilians conferred with an honourary rank in the services “must receive proper advice from the service headquarters on how one must appear while wearing military rank and uniform.”

Another veteran said that “officers of the regular and territorial army are not allowed to wear beards, unless you are a Sikh officer in which case you wear a turban too.” 

The photo put out by the Army and the actor shows the actor in uniform wearing a beard as he receives the commendation card.
