VACB arrests two officials on charges of accepting bribes

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Tuesday (September 23) arrested a revenue clerk of the Kochi Corporation and an assistant labour officer on charges of accepting bribes amounting to ₹25,000 and ₹5,000, respectively.

The accused were identified as S.S. Prakash, a revenue clerk at the Palluruthy zonal office of the Kochi Corporation, and K.A. Jayaprakash, who previously served as assistant labour officer before being transferred to Ernakulam. Prakash was caught while allegedly accepting bribe for regularising an extended portion of a lodge at Palluruthy, and Jayaprakash while reportedly receiving bribe to avoid initiating penal action against a restaurant near the Guruvayur temple.
