Two students of a traditional Islamic seminary were killed and three of their friends injured when the car they were travelling in crashed into a parked lorry on National Highway 66 near Thalappara in Malappuram on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Usman, 24, from Vailathur and Shahul Hameed, 23, from Vallikkunnu.
Abbas, 25, and Sarjas, 24, from Tanur and Fahad, 24, from Vengara were admitted to hospital with injuries.
All of them were students of Thalakadathur Juma Masjid near Tirur. Their car rammed a stationary lorry from behind while heading towards Kozhikode. The accident took place around 8.30 p.m.
