Toddler dies after gate topples on him in Kerala’s Alappuzha

A one-and-a-half-year-old boy, who had been undergoing treatment after a gate toppled over him, died on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Rithav, son of Akhil Maniyappan and Aswathi.

The accident occurred on September 22 at Aswathi’s house at Pazhaveedu in Alappuzha. The family had come from Vaikom to visit after learning that Ashwathi’s mother was unwell.

As the gate was being closed, it toppled onto the child who was playing in the yard. The boy suffered a severe head injury and had been under treatment on ventilator support at the Government Medical College Hospital since then, but could not be saved.
