This young entrepreneuer has designed work capsules and stationed them at a mall in Chennai

The phone booth is over. But a work station booth could just be the beginning.

G. Pranavnath, a 30-year-old entrepreneur, has just designed work capsules which can be set up in busy spaces. “While we are familiar with co-working spaces, the concept of work station booths are yet to catch up here. These work capsules, could be a game-changing addition,” says Pranav, who earlier launched Flying Cobbler in 2018, taking cobbler services to customers’ doorsteps.

He says these booths are designed for comfort and offer a quiet environment. “When I am on the move and have to attend meetings or work related conferences, I sit in a cafe. However, noise and distractions are a lot. So I designed a booth that offers a mini office set up, with air conditioning,” he says.

The capsules are of 4.8’X4.8 dimension and 12 foot high, can seat one person., and come with noise cancellation. “ The Booths are equipped with ergonomic furniture, adjustable lighting, and ventilation. it is cleaned and sanitised periodicially after every user leaves the booth. We also provide, high-speed Wi-Fi, and power outlets are readily available to keep you connected and charged,” he says.

Pranav claims that after a lot of trial and error, he designed the booth with an architecht and team of carpenters. “Now we have experience and expertise to build such stations and replicate the ideas in other places ,” he says. . He plans to install these work stations at some metro stations in the city.

“Working from home or the Hybrid model is common now, and these booths can be a welcome change for those who feel bored at home. Our booths are currently stationed at a mall so people can shop, and then utilize the booth to work out of,,” says Pranav. The concept of “work from any where” is catching up and this facility is cost effective for business travellers. Does the booth ensure privacy? “Onlookers cannot peer into the booth, and the person working inside, will be faintly visible through the fog glass. Apart from that, we monitor the booths via CCTV cameras 247,” he says.
