The public protest against the Ambayathode-based slaughterhouse waste treatment factory has gained support from various quarters.
A committee was constituted at a meeting held at Koodathai on Saturday (November 1, 2025) in support of the protest. The meeting was attended by around 40 people representing the seven Mahal committees, five parishes, and representatives of parent-teacher associations of three schools in the affected area.
The committee decided to support all activities by residents protesting against the factory. “We plan to move the Kerala High Court demanding a judicial investigation into the issue. We are also examining the scope for an amicus curiae investigation. We will not violate prohibitory orders,” said Girish John, a resident.
The Janakeeya Manushyavakasha Prasthanam also came forward in support of the protest. In a press release, Hari S., convenor of the movement, demanded an end to the alleged police atrocities against the public at Ambayathode and lifting of prohibitory orders.
