The two police drivers who were recently booked for their alleged links with a sex racket in Kozhikode city would be quizzed soon.
However, senior police officers associated with the investigation at the Nadakkavu police station remained tight-lipped about the ongoing legal proceedings and the call detail records and bank transaction data already accessed, which reportedly revealed the duo’s alleged links to the racket.
The statements of the suspects, who were placed under suspension by the District Police Chief (Kozhikode City) following an internal investigation into the incident, are yet to be recorded. Sources said a notice would be issued soon, directing the two to appear for interrogation.
Though a police squad reportedly searched their residences, the two were found missing. Their mobile phones had also been switched off for several days.
The suspected inter-district sex racket was exposed on June 6 during a flash inspection at an apartment near Malaparamba, in the heart of Kozhikode city. Nine persons, including six women, were arrested at the time. Two police drivers, Shaijith and Sanith, along with a non-resident Keralite identified as M.K. Animesh, were later arraigned based on digital evidence.
