The first edition of Kerala Tourism’s Seethathode Kayaking Festival will be held at Seethathode in Pathanamthitta on September 2, adding one more event to the adventure tourism calendar of the State.
The Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) under the Tourism department is organising the event with technical support from the Kerala Kayaking Society and Canoeing Association.
The event offers prize money totalling ₹3.45 lakh in various categories. Competitions will be held in the Moozhiyar river, near the Seethathode fire station at Konni from 10 a.m.

The competitions will be held in men, women, men doubles, women doubles and mixed categories. Kayakers above the age of 15 years can take part. First prize in the singles category carries a cash prize of ₹25,000 while runners-up will receive a cash prize of ₹15,000 and second runners up ₹5,000.
Meanwhile, in the doubles category, winners will get a cash prize of ₹50,000 while runners up will receive ₹25,000 and third prize winners get ₹10,000.
All participants will receive certificates. Participants should wear life jackets. Kayaks, life jackets and paddles will be provided by the KATPS.
