Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit has launched a project to encourage students to come up with innovative start-up ideas.
It has joined hands with the Kerala Startup Mission to help young aspirants pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. The varsity’s Design Technology Business Incubation Centre on the main campus at Kalady is implementing the project.
“We have initiated training for faculty members and students on various aspects related to entrepreneurship. In the second phase, which will be initiated in December, students will be told to come up with their start-up ideas,” said R. Ajayan, Syndicate member and chairperson of the Design Technology Business Incubation Centre.
He said that a technical committee would vet the proposals. The ideas that have the potential to turn into ventures will be given technical and financial assistance. The centre will also initiate steps to link students with companies and institutions that require support in various areas, he said.
The varsity has plans to convert the expertise of students passionate about painting, sculpture and murals into business ideas. They had offered their consultancy services for institutions, including for Kochi and Kannur airports, in the past by setting up wall murals. The incubation centre also has plans to offer consultancy work to companies under their corporate social responsibility scheme, according to the authorities.
