Ramesh D. Kurup is all set to lead the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the North Paravur municipality as chairperson.
A former municipal chairman, his name was announced by Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan after the Congress parliamentary committee meeting on Sunday (December 21). Ms. Laiji Biju will be the vice chairperson.

After clinching 15 of the 30 seats, the UDF is in a comfortable position to lead the municipal council, having retained control of the civic body for the fourth consecutive term. Of the 15 councillors, 10 are women.
Mr. Kurup, who served as municipal chairman from 2015 to 2020, had won from Ward 22 (Nanthiattukunnam). He won from the same ward this time as well, though the ward number was different during his earlier tenure. He had earlier served as a councillor from 2010 to 2015.
Mr. Kurup said the focus this time would be on development.
Ms. Biju won from Ward 5 (Town Hall). She had served as a councillor during 2020–2025 after winning from Ward 2 (Kurunthottiparambu).
