Rains: call to extend Plus One admission by a day

Kerala

The Aided Higher Secondary Teachers’ Association (AHSTA) has demanded that the date for Plus One single-window admissions after the third allotment in the main phase be extended at least by a day.

The admissions were to be held on Monday and Tuesday. However, the AHSTA has sought an extension in the wake of rain fury in the State.

In a statement, the association pointed out that waterlogging in coastal and low-lying areas and uprooting of trees in the western region was creating travel hurdles. In such a situation, it was imperative that the Plus One admission should be extended by at least a day.

It also pointed out that Monday was a holiday in many districts. The admission should be extended to enable students to take admission, especially since many of them would have to take TC from their current schools after getting allotment in the third phase or securing higher options. The details of students taking admission would have to be updated online too. However, disruptions in internet connectivity would create a hurdle. This should not be seen as a fault of teachers or schools.

The association also sought more time for submitting the details of students taking admission. Sending details from all schools to the server before the scheduled deadline on Tuesday would create delays in saving the details, it said.
