Radio Nellikka launched for children

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday inaugurated Radio Nellikka, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights’ Internet radio for children.

The Chief Minister also released Radio Nellikka’s logo and song on the occasion.

The radio is being launched by the commission to realise the objective of making the State child-friendly and ensuring child rights literacy. It comes against the backdrop of mental health challenges, ills of substance abuse, perils of cyber world, increasing social media addiction and rise in suicides by children.

The Internet radio will begin with four hours of programming initially that can be heard from anywhere in the world. New programmes can be heard from Monday to Friday while Saturday and Sunday will be for repeats.
