Professor Akhilesh Mishra has assumed charge as the Chairman of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) on Tuesday. After assuming office, Professor Mishra held an important meeting with all Heads of Departments and conducted a detailed review of the ongoing academic and administrative projects.
He reviewed the progress of the mandatory 6-month Bridge Course for primary school teachers appointed on the basis of BEd degrees. Professor Mishra laid special emphasis on making this course more inclusive, of higher quality, and ensuring that the learning material is practical and easily accessible.
He also gathered information about the functioning of NIOS’s regional centres spread across the country and indicated plans to launch new initiatives in the interest of the millions of learners registered with NIOS. The meeting, held at the NIOS headquarters, was attended by the Secretary of the institute, all Heads of Departments, and other senior officials.
