Weather in Kerala has became favourable for the smooth conduct of the two-phase local body polls in the State, with the cessation of the thunderstorm activity.
Compared to previous weeks, the Bay of Bengal remains calm, with no major weather systems and cyclonogenisis. With the weather turning pleasant, no weather stations in the State recorded rain events in the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, although gusty winds with a speed of 40 kmph are prevailing over the State.
The first phase of the local body elections is under way in seven districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam, while the second phase from Thrissur to Kasaragod will be held on Thursday (December 11).
According to a forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dry weather is expected to prevail over most parts of the State on these days, with maximum daytime temperature considerably increasing and minimum temperature hovering around the long-period average.
However, isolated mild showers may occur in some parts of the high-range regions bordering the Western Ghats.
