Perplexity, on Thursday, May 29, introduced a new feature called Labs that helps you make spreadsheets, dashboards and even web apps in a few minutes. Available for Pro subscribers, the company says “using Labs is like having a team,” and is suited to people who want to bring their ideas to life.
In a blog post, Perplexity claimed that Labs can create spreadsheets, web apps, and dashboards by simply performing 10 minutes or more of “self-supervised work” using a wide range of tools – such as deep web browsing, code execution, and chart and image creation – to help users transform their ideas into reality.
The blog post also states that Labs can write and execute code to handle tasks like “structuring data, applying formulas, and creating charts, text documents, or spreadsheets.” All your generated files, charts and images, including code files, will be available for download in the “Assets” tab. It also has an “App” tab that lets you quickly make and deploy interactive web apps like basic dashboards, websites and slideshows, eliminating the need to resort to external development tools.
Today we’re launching Perplexity Labs.
Labs is for your more complex tasks. It’s is like having an entire team at your disposal.

The AI startup also claimed that Labs can help users accomplish tasks that would otherwise require anywhere from a few days to a few weeks of research, coordination, and various skill sets. This is useful as Labs can help users create things like a marketing campaign, analyse business finances, plan meals and even make simple web apps without any coding skills.
Available on the web as well as the Android and iOS versions of the app, Perplexity Labs is now available for Pro subscribers and can be accessed from the mode selector in the input bar. As for the Mac and Windows apps, the company says the functionality will be “coming soon”.
While Labs may sound more useful, Perplexity says Deep Research still remains the “fastest way to obtain comprehensive answers to in-depth questions” and that Labs is better for more in-depth work. The company also announced that it is renaming the “Deep Research” feature to “Research”.
