On Monday, Aravind Srinivas, Co-founder and CEO of Perplexity AI, the popular AI-powered answer engine, announced via a LinkedIn post that the Perplexity AI chatbot is now available directly through WhatsApp. This update comes just a few days after Srinivas asked users if they would like to use Perplexity natively on WhatsApp. It is worth noting that the Perplexity chatbot is also available on Telegram under the name “askplexbot,” and on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Similar to Perplexity, users can also access ChatGPT on WhatsApp, along with the natively integrated Meta AI.

This integration allows users to access Perplexity’s capabilities within the widely used messaging platform, eliminating the need to download yet another app, which also helps conserve device storage and data.

Unlike downloading the native Perplexity app, where users need to sign up, with WhatsApp integration, users can start using the service immediately without requiring any sign-up or login.

Users can interact with Perplexity on WhatsApp for tasks such as answering questions, researching topics, summarising content, and even generating custom images for free. This move aims to make AI answer bots more accessible to users worldwide, especially in regions where WhatsApp is a primary communication tool.

How to access Perplexity AI on WhatsApp

To access Perplexity AI, save +1 (833) 436-3285 to your contact list and start asking questions or queries. Users can access Perplexity AI on smartphones, PCs, and Macs, as well as via WhatsApp Web.

Srinivas has confirmed that, in the coming days, Perplexity on WhatsApp will gain more capabilities such as voice mode, memes, videos, fact-checks, and assistant functionalities. While the company is also working on integrating Perplexity within WhatsApp groups, it will take some time, as the API currently does not support this feature.

Perplexity recently updated its iOS app and introduced a new voice mode and additional capabilities, making it a useful AI assistant capable of performing native cross-app tasks. These capabilities have been available on Android smartphones for some time.
