Abdullah Abu Shawesh, Palestininan Ambassador to India, called on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday (September 29, 2025).

Mr. Vijayan said “Israel’s attempt at the occupation of Palestine, with the backing of the United States of America, brazenly violated international conventions.”

According to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Mr. Vijayan expressed solidarity with the Palestinian cause for a separate and sovereign State headquartered in East Jerusalem as per the 1947 United Nations (UN) resolution.

Mr. Vijayan underscored that a two-nation solution for Arabs and Jews was imperative for permanent peace in West Asia.

Mr. Vijayan said the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala has repeatedly demanded the UN’s urgent intervention in Palestine. He also said the international community should mobilise public opinion against Israel’s “trespasses” on the people of Palestine.

The CMO stated that Mr. Shawesh told Mr. Vijayan that Kerala’s support for the Palestine cause was “reassuring and overwhelming at the same time.”

The envoy noted that Palestine hoped that people around the world would “follow Kerala’s example” and rally behind its people.

Mr. Vijayan hosted Mr. Shawesh at the Chief Minister’s official chamber in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
