The IMD reiterated that a low pressure area is likely to form in the Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast around May 22 under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation in the region which could take shape by May 21.
The low pressure area is expected to move northwards and intensify, the IMD said in a special bulletin on Sunday.
