OnePlus shared details of its new generative artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives for the first time on Tuesday, May 27, outlining what could become the next big reason for consumers to upgrade their smartphones. The Oppo-owned brand said it is avoiding a ‘Frankenstein AI’ approach, instead focusing on meaningful, user-driven features.
The announcement comes ahead of the global launch of the OnePlus 13s, which is set to debut early next month.
The brand is positioning “OnePlus AI” as a personal intelligence assistant, not just a collection of isolated tools. Its AI product roadmap outlines a progression from multimodal AI to personalised AI, and ultimately to an agentic AI future.
Among the generative AI features coming to OnePlus smartphones—starting with the OnePlus 13s—is AI Plus Mind, which allows users to save on-screen data (such as schedules, events, and reservations) by pressing the Plus Key or swiping up with three fingers.
AI Plus Mind helps users capture information from different apps, provides smart suggestions, stores memories, and allows them to search through the saved content later. For example, if you are reading a magazine, you can turn on the camera and press the Plus Key to extract and instantly summarise the content. The Plus Key is a brand-new, dedicated, and customizable button on the OnePlus 13s that captures and organises on-screen content when pressed.
OnePlus also announced several new AI features that will be integrated into OxygenOS, including AI VoiceScribe, which summarises calls, and live translation support for popular apps such as WhatsApp and Zoom. Meanwhile, all AI translation features have now been consolidated into a single app, offering live, camera, and screen translation, as well as a face-to-face conversation mode.
A significant part of the OnePlus AI experience is powered by Google Gemini. For example, Gemini integration enables cross-app task execution, including within OnePlus’s built-in apps, and offers contextual assistance.

OnePlus placed strong emphasis on privacy while designing its AI features, aiming to strike a balance between on-device and cloud-based processing. The brand is launching a Private Computing Cloud to ensure secure and trusted execution of sensitive data.
It also claims full compliance with regional privacy regulations, including those in India and the EU. For example, data from Plus Mind is processed in the cloud but stored exclusively on the device. Looking ahead, OnePlus plans to shift more processing on-device as hardware capabilities continue to improve.
