The condition of a 42-year-old woman infected with Nipah virus continued critical on Saturday in spite of having received two doses of monoclonal antibody. The woman from Valanchery is under treatment at EMS Memorial Hospital, Perinthalmanna.
Eight more persons from the contact list of the Nipah patient were tested negative on Saturday. All the 25 persons tested so far were negative. An additional 37 persons were included on the contact list of the Nipah patient, raising the total to 94.
When 40 of them are in Malappuram district, 11 in Palakkad district and one each in Ernakulam and Kozhikode district. When 53 are in the high risk category, 41 are in low risk category.
Six persons from the high risk category are currently under treatment at different hospitals. Four of them are at Government Medical College Hospital, Manjeri.
Health officials covered 1,781 houses in and around Valanchery as part of a fever survey conducted in the wake of the Nipah infection. As many as 52 persons were contacted through phone, and three were given psychological counselling.
