A road safety meeting chaired by District Collector V.R. Vinod on Monday (November 10) decided to turn the service lanes of National Highway (NH) 66 into one-way roads. The meeting also decided to remove autorickshaw stands, encroachments and parking from service roads.
Local bodies were asked to reorganise autorickshaw stands.
Only long-distance buses, including KSRTC, will be permitted entry on the highway. Stage carriage buses will be allowed to use the service roads only. Buses should not stop on the national highway to pick up and drop off passengers.
Officials of various departments, including police, transport, Public Works, National Highway Authority of India, KSEB, LSGD, health, BSNL and KWA, attended the meeting.
