MSF State president P.K. Navas inaugurating a protest march to the University of Calicut at Tenhipalam in Malappuram on Thursday.

Activists of the Muslim Students’ Federation (MSF) on Thursday took out a march to the administrative block of the University of Calicut at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district in protest against the alleged manhandling of staff, who are members of an employees union affiliated with the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), during a protest by the Students Federation of India members recently.

Opening the protest, MSF State president P.K. Navas alleged that the police and the security staff did not do much to stop the SFI activists from barging into the administrative block. He claimed that the strong iron door was opened for them without any hindrance to enter the building. They also assaulted staffers who are members of unions affiliated to the IUML and the Congress, he alleged. Mr. Navas said that the SFI activists targeted them at the behest of certain members of Left-aligned staff unions.

Meanwhile, the MSF members entered into heated arguments with the police personnel deployed on the campus when some of their leaders were blocked from entering the administrative block for talks with the officials. The protest was called off after the Registrar promised to take action against those who reportedly assaulted the staff members.
