Two 14-year-old twin brothers, missing since Saturday evening, were found dead in a temple pond at Chittur near here on Sunday (November 2, 2025). Raman and Laxman, twin sons of Kashi Viswanathan living near Chittur Kavu, were presumed to have drowned.
Ninth standard students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Chittur, Raman and Laxman were missing since 7 p.m. on Saturday. Though a massive search was conducted by the local residents on Saturday night, they could not be traced.
Laxman’s body was discovered in the Lankeswaram Siva Temple pond on Sunday morning, prompting a search that led to the recovery of Raman’s body later.
They were presumed to have entered the pond after praying at the temple around 6 p.m. on Saturday. Their electric scooter was found abandoned near the pond on Sunday morning.
The police suspected the boys, who did not know swimming, might have entered the pond to fish. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem at the Government District Hospital here on Sunday afternoon.
