The National Legal Services Authority, in association with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee, has launched a 90-day nationwide campaign, ‘Mediation for the nation’, to resolve pending cases in taluk and district courts and High Courts through mediation.
The Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre, a joint initiative of the Kerala High Court and the Kerala State Legal Services Authority, will undertake the campaign in the State.
The campaign aims to settle cases including matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence, cheque bounce cases, commercial and consumer disputes, and service-related cases. Cases pertaining to debt recovery, partition, eviction, land acquisition, and other civil cases and compoundable criminal cases will be considered, said a communication.
During the campaign, which will end on September 30, courts will identify cases suitable for mediation and refer them to the court-annexed mediation centres after notifying the parties involved. The mediation centres will conduct settlement efforts on all days. Online mediation facilities will also be offered. Details of the campaign can be obtained from the Legal Services Authority or court-affiliated mediation centres.
The Kerala centre operates 78 mediation centres across the State where mediation services are offered free of cost, and cases settled through mediation result in a full refund of court fees, said the communication.
Details can be obtained from the Centre office located at the Kerala High Court compound and telephone numbers 0484-2562969, 2394554. Email ID: kmckerala@gmail.com. Website: https://ksmcc.keralacourts.in
