Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will formally inaugurate the four-day International Media Festival of Kerala (IMFK) at Tagore Theatre here on Tuesday.

The theme of the conference, organised by the Kerala Media Academy, is ‘Media for truth and peace.’ More than a thousand mediapersons and media students from Kerala and outside will participate in the conference.

On Monday, Minister for Finance K.N. Balagopal and Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan will together inaugurate a Palestine solidarity conference by flying a kite with the colours of Palestine flag at Tagore Theatre at 5.30 p.m. Ambassador of Palestine to India Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh will be the chief guest.

At the inaugural on Tuesday, journalist from Burkina Faso Mariam Ouedraogo will receive the award for the ‘Mediaperson of the year award.’ Ms. Ouedraogo has reported on the sexual violence against women and children in the wake of coups in Burkina Faso.

Journalists Karan Thapar, Ravish Kumar, and Rajdeep Sardesai who won the award for Indian mediapersons in 2022, 2023, and 2024 will also receive awards from the Chief Minister. The award comprises a purse of ₹1 lakh each, statuette, and citation, Kerala Media Academy chairperson R.S, Babu said.

An array of mediapersons, including Sashi Kumar, Rana Ayyub, Tongam Rina, Pushpa Rokde, Pratik Sinha, and Mohammed Zubair will take part in the conference.

Panel discussions, interactions, sharing of experiences, AI workshops, quiz are some of the events being held as part of the conference.

The first V.P. Ramachandran Memorial Award will be presented to journalist Anasudhin Azeez from the U.K.

Two multimedia-photo expos will be held as part of the conference. Mr. Pratik Sinha and Mr. Mohammed Zubair will take a class on preventing fake news.
