Man killed in elephant attack in Attappady

Kerala

A 40-year-old tribesman was killed in a wild elephant attack at Attappady on Tuesday. The elephant attacked Vellinkiri from Rajeev hamlet at Cheerakkadavu, Pudur, when he was grazing his goats. Vellinkiri’s is the second death in elephant attack in Attappady within a month.

Vellinkiri’s body was found two kilometres away from his hamlet in a search after he did not return from grazing. His body was shifted to District Hospital, Palakkad, for post-mortem.

Wild animal attacks have claimed over two dozen lives in the State so far this year, fuelling fears about the safety of human lives.
