Man hacked to death, wife critically injured in daylight attack in Kerala’s Kannur

In a daylight attack, a 31-year-old man was hacked to death and his wife seriously injured by two unidentified assailants on a bike at Mathathedam, Kanjirakoli, under the Payyavoor police limits in Kannur, Kerala, on Tuesday.

The deceased, Nidheesh, a blacksmith, succumbed to his injuries at his residence around 12.45 p.m., while his wife, Shruti, (28) is undergoing treatment for critical injuries at Kannur Government Medical College Hospital.

According to initial reports, the attackers hacked Nidheesh multiple times before fleeing the scene. The attack reportedly happened following an argument and the weapons used are allegedly from the victim’s shop.

The police suspect a workplace dispute may have triggered the violence.

The Payyavoor police reached have begun a probe.

CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the culprits.
