The Angamaly police have booked a man for allegedly shooting at two pet cats of a neighbour with an airgun. Garvan Shaju of Pullani in Thuravoor village has been booked on a complaint filed by Padmakumar P. Nambiar.
The alleged incident occurred on September 5. According to the first information report (FIR) filed on Monday (September 15), Shaju fired pellets at a cat around noon and at 7.30 p.m. at the second cat.
The FIR said that a veterinarian had confirmed from X-Ray reports that the cat, which was shot first, had sustained injury to its spinal cord, and the second suffered a chest injury.
The accused has been charged under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (killing or maiming an animal) and Section 11(1)(a) of the Indian Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
