A man facing 12 criminal cases was booked again and arrested after he allegedly hurled abuses inside the Vidyanagar police station in Kasaragod, Kerala, and damaged property on Monday evening. According to the police, two police officers were injured while attempting to restrain him.
The accused, P.A. Abdul Nishad (28), had been brought to the station in connection with a warrant case when he reportedly turned violent. The police said he smashed the window glass by hitting his head against it before turning on the officers who intervened.
Junior Sub-Inspector K.P. Safwan and Civil Police Officer Prajith sustained injuries in the scuffle. Abdul Nishad was soon subdued and taken to a hospital for a medical examination.
A fresh case has been registered on charges of obstructing official duties, trespassing and causing damage to the station.
The police said the investigation into the other 12 cases pending against him is progressing.
The injured officers are undergoing treatment, while Abdul Nishad has been remanded in judicial custody.
