Local body elections 2025: dog attack disrupts UDF candidate’s campaigning in Idukki

The local body election campaign in Bison Valley panchayat in Idukki took an unexpected turn when a dog attacked the candidate. On Saturday morning, United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Jancy Viju was visiting a voter’s home at Erupathekkar in ward 2 of Bison Valley panchayat, when a dog suddenly attacked and bit her on her left leg around 10 a.m. The injured candidate was immediately rushed to Adimaly Taluk Hospital and provided treatment. Other party cadres accompanying her for the campaigning had a narrow escape. After receiving the treatment, the candidate continued her campaign work. Local residents alleged that the panchayat area is facing a stray dog menace and that the authorities have failed to prevent it.
