LDF councillor joins BJP in Thrissur Corporation

In a shock to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) ahead of the local body elections, LDF councillor in the Thrissur Corporation and standing committee chairperson Sheeba Babu has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The former Janata Dal (S) leader was a councillor from the Nadathara division. She will contest as the BJP candidate from the Krishnapuram division in the upcoming election.

Ms. Babu, who resigned from the party, had earlier announced that she will contest as an Independent candidate with the BJP support in the polls.

She complained that she could not deliver the development promises given to her voters due to internal conflicts in the LDF.
