One of the Left Democratic Front (LDF)’s independent candidates in Pattambi municipality failed to secure even a single vote, lending weight to the United Democratic Front (UDF)’s allegations of an understanding between the LDF and the Welfare Party of India.

LDF-backed independent candidate Abdul Kareem drew a blank in Hidayath Nagar ward (12) of Pattambi municipality, while the UDF candidate, T.P. Usman, won the ward with 292 votes. The Welfare Party of India-backed independent candidate, K.P. Sajid, secured 208 votes and was supported by the LDF in the ward.

On the polling day, Hidayath Nagar saw a clash between workers of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Welfare Party. UDF leaders reiterated their allegations of the alliance between the LDF and the Welfare Party in the ward.
