Kerala Students Union (KSU) State general secretary Farhan Munderi has lodged a complaint with District Police Chief (Kannur City) P. Nidhinraj over the alleged failure of the police to register a case against T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case accused ‘Kodi’ Suni and his gang for reportedly consuming alcohol in public.

Visuals of the gang members consuming alcohol on June 17 while being escorted from court to jail had gone viral on social media. Mr. Munderi said that despite clear video and photographic evidence, no legal action had been taken, and he described it as a challenge to public safety and an insult to the law. The complaint sought immediate legal proceedings in the matter.

Meanwhile, State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar on Tuesday (August 5) indicated that the police might register a case. The matter was reviewed at a high-level meeting of police officers.

Earlier, the Thalassery Town police had claimed that there was no basis for booking a case owing to lack of evidence.
