Kollam girl who was under treatment for Hepatitis A dies

A 17-year-old girl from Kollam district who was under treatment for Hepatitis A succumbed on Sunday, just days after her sister died of the same disease. The deceased, identified as Neethu of Thrikkovilvattom panchayat in Kollam district, was undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. Her sister, Meenakshi, 19, had died on Friday. Health Department officials in Kollam have taken serious note of the siblings’ deaths. Neethu was initially admitted to an ESI Hospital in Kollam district, but was later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram. Ambadi, the younger brother of the two girls, also had tested positive for Hepatitis A, but had since recovered.
