Kerala will unveil 12 projects worth ₹14.39 crore on the annual Ayurveda Day on Tuesday.
Some of the projects being launched formally are already operational. These include comprehensive maternity care, an e-hospital covering 240 institutions, the AYUSH Yoga Club app to encourage daily yoga practice, and specialty clinics for non-communicable diseases.
Health Minister Veena George will inaugurate the Ayurveda Day celebrations and officially launch these 12 projects.
One of the key initiatives, ‘Suthikamitram’, is designed to provide scientific training to women in Ayurveda-based prenatal and postnatal care, ensuring that necessary services are available for mothers and children across the State. Another important programme, ‘Supraja’, is a comprehensive maternal and child health initiative that aims to improve the health of women during pregnancy and postpartum, while ensuring the healthy growth of their children.
Over 10,000 yoga clubs currently operate in the state, promoting the importance of yoga in preventing lifestyle diseases. The AYUSH Yoga Club app has been developed to inform people about nearby yoga clubs.
The specialty clinics for non-communicable diseases are designed to provide comprehensive interventions that maximise Ayurveda’s potential in preventing and controlling lifestyle-related illnesses.
The ‘Ayurkarma’ scheme, available through the government’s Ayurveda dispensaries, offers comprehensive Ayurvedic treatments, including Panchakarma, for economically disadvantaged individuals.
The National Programme for Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis and Other Musculoskeletal Disorders is a public health initiative aimed at preventing, controlling, and treating various musculoskeletal diseases, including osteoarthritis. The specialty clinic for Joint and musculoskeletal disorders will make the benefits of Ayurveda, which is particularly effective for joint diseases, available to the public.
