cOcOn 2025, the annual cybersecurity and hacking conference organised by the Kerala Police, will take place at Grand Hyatt here on October 10 and 11. The focus of this year’s edition, organised in association with the Information Security Research Association, a registered society, is prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse of children. The conference will also discuss topics, including potential challenges posed by a surge in AI technologies and the rise in organised cybercrime, the organisers said in a statement on Sunday.
A series of workshops led by cyber experts will be held as a precursor to the event from October 7 to 9. The event aims to draft an action plan to prevent sexual abuse of children. As part of this, a 10-day training will be given for investigation officers of cyber units from all States at the Kerala Police Academy, Thrissur, ahead of the cOcOn conference. The training will be held from September 29 to October 9.
A youth forum, designed to empower young people from south Asia and southeast Asia to lead in the fight against child sexual exploitation and abuse, especially in online environments, is another highlight of the event. Govind Mohan, Union Home Secretary, will be the guest of honour at the event. Nathan Hamiel, senior director of research, Kudelski Security, will be the keynote speaker.
Hackathon launched
The State police have also launched an international hackathon to develop tech solutions that protect children from online threats. The participants of the sixth edition of the hackathon, titled HAC’KP 2025, have been challenged to build tools and systems for early detection and intervention technologies to protect children online. The winners will be announced at the end of the cOcOn meet. For details and registration, visit https://c0c0n.org/
