Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the duty of the police extends beyond preventing crime — it includes standing firmly with the people in times of crisis. “Kerala Police have proven this through their actions. The State has truly set an example in social policing,” he said while addressing the Passing Out Parade of the 31st C Batch of 104 Sub-Inspector trainees at the Kerala Police Academy.

The Chief Minister noted that Kerala Police is a model for the nation in law and order maintenance, scientific investigation, and cybercrime detection. “The government has strengthened the police force by upgrading infrastructure, modernising forensic and cyber training, enhancing efficiency in scientific investigation, and ensuring greater representation of women,” he said.

He highlighted that the modernisation drive has made it easier to detect and prevent financial crimes swiftly.

The Chief Minister stressed that the State envisions building a New Kerala that benefits future generations—one that remains democratic and secular. “We must seriously address threats like communalism and substance abuse. The police have a crucial role in eradicating these social evils,” he said.

He also urged the force to prioritise the welfare of women, children, and the elderly, and to interact with the public with empathy and compassion. “At the same time, police must stay vigilant in keeping anti-social elements and criminals at bay,” he said.

Four platoons participated in the passing out parade, which included 90 men and 14 women trainees. The Chief Minister presented awards to the top performers. Among the 104 trainees, 12 hold postgraduate degrees, 59 are graduates, three are MBAs, one MCA, 26 BTechs, two MSWs, and one MTech holder.
