As part of its mission to safeguard children victimised in child sexual abuse material (CSAM) cases, the Kerala Police have launched a victim identification taskforce (VIDTF) training programme at Kerala Police Academy, Ramavarmapuram, Thrissur. The programme, which started on September 29 will conclude on October 9.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the police force’s ability to effectively respond to the rising number of CSAM cases. Organised in association with various agencies, the training is part of the annual international cOcOn conference led by Kerala Police, which focuses on raising awareness about cybercrimes and investigative practices.
As many as 40 officers from different States and Union Territory police forces engaged in probing cybercrimes against children are participating. Alongside technical and practical sessions led by experts in the field, the training includes sessions to help officers cope with the mental and emotional stress that often comes with investigating such sensitive cases.
The programme was formally inaugurated at the Kerala Police Academy by DGP Manoj Abraham, Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.
The ceremony was attended by ADGP (HQ) S. Sreejith; Academy Director K. Sethuraman, Thrissur Range DIG Harishankar, Thrissur city Commissioner Ilango R. Childlight -Global Child Safety Institute Professor Paul Griffiths and others participated.
The cOcOn international seminar will take place on October 10 and 11 in Kochi.
