Congress MP K. Sudhakaran said the election results reflected a clear verdict of the people against the “anti-people” Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
Addressing the media at the Kannur District Congress Committee office on Saturday (December 13, 2025), he said the days of the State government were numbered as it had lost the trust of the people. Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] workers had unleashed widespread violence during the election period, but despite this, the United Democratic Front (UDF) emerged victorious, he said.
Mr. Sudhakaran claimed that public confidence in the UDF has increased significantly. The UDF made gains in the Kannur Corporation, winning divisions and receiving favourable reports from across the district.
“The Left has suffered a decisive setback in Kannur and there is no scope for a comeback as they have lost credibility in the minds of people,” he said.
Demanding accountability, Mr. Sudhakaran said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should apologise to the people and resign if he had any sense of propriety.
He described the UDF’s advance as the people’s response to the alleged corruption of the Pinarayi government and said it was clear evidence of the renewed public faith in the UDF. The victory would give the UDF renewed momentum ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections, he said.
