As per the final voters’ list, Kerala has 2,84,30,761 voters in all.
With the 2025 local body elections on the horizon, Kerala is stepping up preparations for the polls. Though the State Election Commission has not yet announced the schedule for the elections, it is expected that Kerala will go to the polling booths either towards the end of November or early December.
Following the delimitation exercise by the State Delimitation Commission, the number of wards in the 1,200 local bodies had risen to 23,612. The 2025 elections are being held for 23,576 wards, excluding the 36 wards of the Mattannur municipality in Kannur where elections are due only in 2027. As per the final voters’ list published by the commission, Kerala has 2,84,30,761 voters in all.
As per the latest revision, of the 2.84 crore voters in Kerala, 1,50,18,010 are women, 1,34,12,470 are men and 281 are transgender voters. Overseas electors number 2,841.
The list was revised with January 1, 2025 as the qualifying date for enrolment. The list is applicable to 17,337 wards in 941 grama panchayats, 3,240 wards in 87 municipalities, and 421 wards in six Corporations.
State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan has held discussions with senior political party leaders in the State and sought their cooperation for the smooth organisation of the exercise.
