Kerala has become the first State in the country to open the Ksheerasree portal, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister J. Chinchu Rani has said.

She was inaugurating a public meeting of the Thrissur District Dairy Conference at Vellangallur on Friday.

“The government is introducing several schemes to attract youth to the dairy sector. Plans are also under way to insure every cow in the district. With the establishment of cattle parks, farmers will be able to rear high-quality breeds, taking the dairy sector to greater heights,” the Minister said.

She also pointed out that through the Dairy Welfare Fund Board, farmers now received crucial support, and that Kerala ranked second in the country in terms of milk production efficiency.

Kerala will collaborate with Punjab in areas such as semen production and distribution, exchange of high-genetic-value cattle and bulls, genetic selection and evaluation, embryo transfer technology, and advanced artificial insemination techniques. “This partnership will strengthen Kerala’s technological capabilities in animal husbandry,” the Minister added.

The District Dairy Meet was organised jointly by the Dairy Development Department, local self-governments, dairy cooperatives, Kerala Feeds, Milma, and various other agencies in the sector. Outstanding dairy farmers of the district were honoured at the event.

The meeting was presided over by Vellangallur block panchayat president Sudha Dileep. Dairy Development Director Shalini Gopinath presented the details of the Ksheerasree portal.
