JSW Cement Ltd. closed 5% lower than its opening price of ₹153 a dollar after opening at a premium on its first day of listing.
The company, whose upper price band was fixed at ₹147, was listed at a premium of 4.4%. The stock opened at ₹153.5 apiece and reached an intra day high of ₹154.77. It touched an intra day low of ₹145.05, which was lower than the upper price band itself. The stock then touched the closing price of ₹146, a rupee lesser than the upper price band.
At the end of the three days of subscription, the retail demand for the ₹3,600 crore IPO was just 1.35 times the 30.6 lakh shares earmarked for the investor category. The qualified institutional buyers bought 4.8 times the 88.6 lakh share reserved for their purchase. Non-institutional investors showed the least interest demanding just 0.55 times the shares offered to the category of investors.
The IPO market is currently in a s;lump in comparison to last year. Just about 65% of the 108 companies listed so far debuted with a gain, according to data from Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This share was 85% in fiscal 2025.
