Apple is likely to showcase iPadOS 19 at the upcoming WWDC 2025, and, according to a Bloomberg report published on Sunday, this update might finally bridge the gap between iPads and Macs with a major UI redesign. Just like iOS 19, which is speculated to undergo a significant makeover, iPadOS 19 is also expected to gain a few platform-specific features to improve multitasking and enhance productivity.

iPadOS 19 will move closer to macOS with improved window management capabilities to help enhance user productivity, which will also help Apple push the iPad as a serious work computer. While it still won’t be as open as macOS, the update is expected to introduce several notable new features. It could launch alongside the next-generation iPad Pro models, powered by the M5 chip.

Apple’s iPads have long been among the most capable tablet computers in the world. However, the Cupertino tech giant has traditionally held back on the software experience to maintain a distinction between iPads and Macs. The current iPad Pro lineup is powered by the same M4 chip found in the MacBook Air M4.

The same Bloomberg report also highlights that Apple is currently working on multiple Vision Pro headsets — two, to be exact — with one being a lighter and more affordable model, and the other expected to derive its computing power from a Mac, as the company continues to develop its highly anticipated smart glasses, similar to Meta’s Orion.

Additionally, Apple’s popular accessories such as AirPods and the Apple Watch are reportedly set to receive camera upgrades to help prepare users for the upcoming AR ecosystem.
