India’s design market has been growing at a rapid pace as the country evolved into a global software and manufacturing hub, said Scott Pugh, Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific at Figma, a San Francisco-based collaborative design and product firm here on Wednesday.

Terming India Figma’s second largest active user market globally, he said some 93% of companies in India used AI in design, indicating the scope of the market.

“We’ve seen increasing demand from Indian companies, and with the office opening, we want to get closer to our users and the community here.” he said while addressing the media at the opening of Figma’s office in the city.

The opening would bring in new job opportunities in India as Figma is growing its footprint in the country by deepening relationships with the local design and developer community, the firm said. It also claimed that it has established a strong presence in the country, serving users in across 28 states and also enterprises including Airtel, CARS24, Groww, Juspay, Myntra, Swiggy, TCS and Zomato.

According to Figma, over 40% of the top Bombay Stock Exchange 100 (BSE100) companies are its customers. “From Ahmedabad to Vadodara, there are close to 25,000 active members in the Friends of Figma community, an inclusive global community initiative built around user-led programming,” it claimed.

Speaking on the occasion, Lakshminarayan Swaminathan, Vice President, Product Management and Design, Myntra said, “At Myntra, design is at the heart of everything we do — and Figma has become an integral part of how we bring that vision to life. It unites our teams around a shared creative vision, accelerates idea-to-product, and keeps us at the forefront of evolving digital experiences, especially with AI.”

Some 7,000 developers registered for Figma India’s launch event in Bengaluru, indicating strong appetite for cloud-based,  AI-driven tools and technology or design.

As per a recent study by Figma, 85% of designers agree that AI simplifies writing code and some 81% of developers say design has become more important to the success of AI-powered products.
