Kerala High Court judge Devan Ramachandran has said that human intelligence is more powerful than artificial intelligence (AI).
Delivering a lecture on ‘Judiciary and the media in the era of AI’ here on Saturday (August 16), he said that AI was capable of only doing repetitive jobs and its capacity was limited. However, the human brain was capable of doing more things at the same time. Mr. Ramachandran said that AI should be considered as just another tool to help humans.
At a time when truth was just another thing being manufactured by machines, the society was facing a dilemma about what to believe and what not to believe, he said. Mr. Ramachandran pointed out that AI was making a huge impact on the judiciary and the media. A large number of unregulated groups were producing unverified content on the internet. There was an abundant flow of information, and the people were not able to cross-check whether they were true. “What we perceive as truth today may turn out to be false tomorrow… It is difficult to regulate social media,” he added. The event was organised by the Calicut Press Club and the Institute of Communication and Journalism Alumni Network.
