HDFC Bank has inaugurated a currency chest at Uthangudi in Madurai on Thursday.

According to a press release, the new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art operational systems, the highest standards of security and world-class German-made currency sorting machines ensuring precision, reliability and efficiency. It would play a pivotal role in facilitating an efficient cash distribution and timely availability of clean and fit currency to all stakeholders.

This new currency chest would cater to currency note requirements of 176 retail branches and 247 ATMs in Madurai, Tiruchi and Tirunelveli regions, resulting in an improved turnaround-time (TAT). It would also benefit various corporates, government institutions and local community as it will enable improved currency management in the region.

The new currency chest is HDFC’s third such facility in the State, eighth in south zone and 37th in the country. “Commissioning of this new currency chest will improve our operational reach and efficiency. It reflects our enduring commitment in simplifying banking at every level and our readiness to meet the evolving needs of the banking ecosystem,” said executive director Bhavesh Zaveri.

Present on the occasion were RBI Regional Director Uma Sankar, HDFC Bank Group Head-Operations Gourab Roy and other heads of the bank, the release said.
