The Kerala High Court on Wednesday (May 21, 2025) adjourned to May 23 hearing on the bail petitions filed by the students accused in the case related to the alleged murder of a Class X student of a school at Thamarassery.
When the petition came up for hearing, the counsel for the students submitted that they could now be granted bail as there was a change in the circumstances. Their bail petitions were earlier dismissed by the High Court on the grounds that in view of the anonymous threatening letter received by the school authorities, their release on bail would apparently expose them to physical as well as psychological dangers. The accused had been in custody for around 80 days.
The counsel further submitted that two of the students who appeared for the SSLC examination had secured full A+ grade. The other students had also performed well and became eligible for higher studies. The students have to seek admission for higher education. Therefore, the court may grant them bail, the Counsel said.
